The Chairman of Al Ahsa Medical Services Co.- Al Ahsa Hospital- Mr. Abdulmohsen Al Othman inaugurated the new ER department on Wednesday Ramadan 3rd, 1440 AH corresponding to May 8th, 2019, with the presence of board members, hospital executive director, directors and department heads, in addition to a group of physicians, nurses and staff.
Touring the new ER department, the Chairman asserted that this commendable step falls within the hospital’s 5-year development plan, which aims at constantly upgrading and developing all hospital services and departments to match up to the highest medical care standards, with the ultimate objective of serving Al Ahsa community in particular and the Eastern Region in general.
He added that this initiative and many upcoming ones are part of the hospitals’ endeavors to contribute in achieving the strategic objectives of the first theme (Transform healthcare) of the National Transformation Program 2020, namely those of ensuring ease access to health services and improving quality and efficiency of healthcare services, as they tie with Vision 2030 Goal of enhancing the standard and quality of healthcare services.
The Executive Director of Al Ahsa Hospital, Dr. Maher Jamal Eddine extended his sincere thanks to the Chairman for his unwavering, limitless support, and to all those who contributed to the successful handover of this project.
He further highlighted that “the new ER department constitutes a paradigm shift in developing medical services as it matches up to national and international quality and safety standards, meets MOH healthcare requirements for emergency departments and complies with infection prevention and control policies and procedures; all this will translate into the provision of more accurate, faster, scientific and humane medical and therapeutic services to patients, to ultimately serve the welfare of citizens and residents alike”.
Dr. Jamaleddine pointed out that the ER department houses 26 beds, 3 isolation rooms designed according to international standards, an area for electronic visual screening, two respiratory waiting areas at negative pressure for ill patients with suspected MERS-CoV infection, two triage rooms to classify patients according to the severity of the case, waiting rooms for ladies and gentlemen, and 4 clinics specialized in pediatrics, obstetrics and gynecology, and general medicine.
It is worth noting that the ER department is headed by the intensivist and emergency medicine consultant, Dr. Mustafa AL Quraini, who graduated from McMaster University in Canada, and has a large capacity and provides integrated medical services through highly competent and qualified specialized physicians supported by a qualified nursing and administrative staff working round the clock to provide best-in-class, evidence-based medical services, to save the lives of many patients.
He concluded by reiterating that this new department constitutes yet another step towards Al Ahsa hospital’s success, progress and development.
