Al Ahsa Health Affairs Directorate, in partnership with Al-Ahsa hospital, launched on Sunday 19th of Safar 1440 AH, corresponding to the 28th of October 2018, a seasonal Flu vaccination campaign with the presence of the Director of Health Affairs, Mr. Abdulhamid Al-Omair, the Executive Director of Al-Ahsa hospital, Dr. Maher Jamal Eddine,the Assistant to the Director of Health Affairs for Public Health, Dr. Walid Al-Sultan, senior directors from Al-Ahsa Health Affairs Directorate and Al-Ahsa hospital.
The partnership with Al-Ahsa hospital as an official sponsor of this campaign is based on the principle of community partnership between the public and private sectors. This cooperation will effectively help immunize the society as it targets all age groups, including the most vulnerable, i.e. children below the age of 5, pregnant women, people with diabetes, asthma, chronic heart diseases and chronic liver diseases. The hospital Director also pointed out that Flu vaccination reduces infection by more than 60% and hospitalization, due to flu, by 80%.
This campaign aims to immunize up to 135,000 Saudis and residents in Al-Ahsa province by setting up permanent medical teams in hospitals and healthcare centers and joint mobile teams assigned by Al-Ahsa Health Affairs Directorate and Al-Ahsa hospital, to provide vaccination services in governmental and educational institutions, and public places such as malls, parks, etc. in order to reach as many members of the society as possible.
This contribution helps to sustain the efforts deployed by Al-Ahsa hospital to raise awareness about health issues and ensure Community Safety and Well-Being.
