Under the patronage of its Executive Director, Dr. Maher Jamal Eddine, Al-Ahsa Hospital organized a Symposium on the “Multi-disciplinary approach to the management of Diabetes Mellitus” in the lecture hall on September 7th, 2018 – Dhu-al-Hijjah 27th, 1439.
The Symposium was presided by the Chief of Medical Staff, Dr. Hisham Hussein Imam, and was granted 8 CME hours by The Saudi Commission for Health Specialties.
Dr Jamal Eddine delivered a speech at the opening of the symposium on the importance of the symposium topic, since overweight and obesity are now a global epidemic, and what is the role of the hospital in addressing this, and shed the light on the latest services provided by the hospital to the community.
The Symposium covered 8 Lectures. The first lecture was presented by Dr.Tamer Saber (Endocrinology Consultant) and was titled “Diabetes Mellitus, Standards of Medical Care, 2018".The second lecture was presented by Dr. Hisham Imam (Ob & Gyn. Consultant) and was titled " Diabetes Mellitus with Pregnancy ".The third lecture was presented by Dr. Hamdy Eraky (Surgery Consultant) and was titled “Bariatric Surgery and Type 2 Diabetes". The fourth lecture was presented by Dr. Fadia Ahmad (Pediatric Consultant) and was titled “Management of Diabetic Ketoacidosis in Children ". The fifth lecture was presented by Dr. El-Metwally Ali (Neurology Consultant) and was titled “Neurological Manifestations of Diabetes Mellitus ". The Sixth lecture was presented by Dr.Inas El-Sherbini (Nephrology Consultant) and was titled “Chronic Medical Complications of Diabetes". The seventh lecture was presented by Dr. Sherif Abuelenin (Cardiology Registrar) and was titled “Diabetes and Atherosclerotic Cardiovascular Risk.The eighth lecture was presented by Dr.Mohamed Tharwat (Internal Medicine Registrar) and was titled “Inpatient Glycemic Control ".
At the end of the Symposium, Dr. Hisham H. Imam opened the floor to questions and discussions between the Lecturers and the attendees, and then he concluded by issuing the Symposium resolutions and recommendations.
