The unit provides neonatal care services for neonates with acute illnesses born at 30 weeks and above, 24 hours a day.
The unit aims to provide exceptional family-centered care, where parents are actively encouraged to participate in all aspects of their child’s care. The unit provide rooms that enable parents to visit and interact with their baby in a comfortable and family friendly environment.
The unit is managed by neonatologist consultants and a multidisciplinary team consisting of nursing staff, respiratory therapists, social workers, and neonates’ growth specialists. Together they provide an integrated model of neonatal care, and ensure a safe environment for newborns.
The NICU consists of 12 incubators and is equipped with state-of-the-art equipment for follow-up of critical medical conditions for post natal delivery:
- Dyspnea and difficulty in breathing.
- Electrolytes disorders.
- Neonatal jaundice or hyperbilirubinemia.
- Multiple organ dysfunction syndrome.
- Severe anemia.
- Low birth weight.
A lactation consultant is available to provide education, assistance and support to breastfeeding mothers.
